With the aim of creating environmental awareness among the future generation, the Ramanujan College has established TATVA- ECO CLUB.

  • To Establish a Linkage Between Various Stakeholders and Their Interface at One Common Platform for the Societal Good

Activities conducted in the Academic Session 2016-17:

  • Orientation Programme on 4th September 2016 to welcome the new student members in the society.
  • Visit to Yamuna Biodiversity Park on 19th September 2016 along with 54 students and 3 teachers.
  • A Seminar Cum Workshop on Solid Waste Management by Ms. Ruchi Kanua, Training Manager (POM-POM RECYCLING COMPANY) on 3rd October 2016 to make the students understand the importance of collection and segregation of dry and solid waste at the household and institutional level.
  • No Cracker Campaign Week” from 25th October 2016 to 28th October 2016. On 25th and 26th October, the society members placed desks in all the corners of the college campus and spread message for cracker-free Diwali. On 27th October, an event named TRIVENT’16 was organized having three competitions: Declamation, Poster and Best out of Waste. On 28th October, a rally was organized by the society students within the college campus as a part of “No Cracker Campaign.”
  • A trip to Asola-Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary on 3rd February 2017 along with 29 students and 5 teachers.
  • Poster Cum Slogan Competition on the topic “Oil and Natural Gas Conservation” on 13th February 2017 having 27 participants. Report
  • Inter college festival “RANG-A-RANG” on 3rd March 2017 in collaboration with Mathematics and Philosophy Society. The event included the competitions like AdMad, Wordsworth, KBC, Mock CID, Rangoli, Dance and Photography. Dr. B. C. Sabata, Senior Scientific Officer, Department of Environment, Delhi Secretariat graced the occasion as a Chief Guest.

  • Shivaranjini's Performance

  • E-Waste Drive  from 10th April to 17th April 2017 in which students as well as teachers participated.

Student Achievements

  • Two students: Nitin (BA Programme, 3rd year) and Shivam (B.Com, 2nd year) of ECO CLUB attended the Twelfth Conference of Youth (COY 12) from 4-6 November 2016 organized by Centre for Environment Education (CEE) and Indian Youth Climate Network (IYCN) with support from Heinrich Boell Stiftung (HBF) in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
  • Five members of the Society: Shivam (B.Com, 2nd year), Dheeraj (B.Com, 1st year), Surya Deo (B.Com, 1st year), Devender Kumar (B. Com (H), 2nd year) and Harshdeep Mittal (B. Com (H), 2nd year) participated in “Walk-a-thon 2016” organized by the NGO named “Umeed – A Drop of Hope” held on 23rd October 2016. The walk stretched a distance of 2.5 KM from Mandi House to Jantar Mantar.
  • Five members attended  “Bhujal Manthan-2016” on 29th November, 2016 at Vigyan Bhawan organized by Central Ground Water Board, Ministry of Water Resources, Government of India.

Activities conducted in the Academic Session 2017-18:

  • Conduct of Interviews and Selection of New Office Bearers & Departmental Heads/ Subheads of the Society
  • Orientation Programme on 6th September 2017 to welcome the new student members in the society.
